What is an energy guide label?
Fixle’s AI Scanner will pull available Energy Guides for all major appliances and home systems added using our AI Scanner. But what is an energy guide? The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires manufacturers to place an EnergyGuide label on the following appliances (https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/how-use-energyguide-label-shop-home-appliances):
- Boilers
- Ceiling Fans
- Central Air Conditioners
- Clothes Washers
- Dishwashers
- Freezers
- Furnaces
- Heat Pumps
- Pool Heaters
- Refrigerators
- Televisions
- Water Heaters
- Room and Portable Air Conditioner
The label shows the following: (https://www.energy.gov/energysaver/shopping-appliances-and-electronics)
- Maker, model number, and size of the appliance.
- Estimated yearly operating cost (based on the national average cost of electricity), and the range of operating costs for similar models.
- The ENERGY STAR® logo indicates that this model meets strict criteria for energy efficiency.
- Estimated yearly electricity consumption.
- Key features of the appliance and the similar models that make up the cost comparison range.
